Fish Table Design

A table top I painted that is soon to be featured at Apres Diem, Atlanta.
This was an experiment in something I don’t usually do and it gave me so many ideas.
I haven’t really messed much with painting in the past. Doing this was alot of fun and a good change.
I’d say it helps to do something out of pace from what are used to every now and then.
It keeps things fresh and also keeps yours mind open to a fresh line of thinking.

The table was covered in text cut from various magazines and I gave it a thick black border around the edge.

The outlines were filled in and I had some paper with shiny gold streaks.
I cut a few out to add into the fish for some variety.

Some of the areas were painted with red and yellow glaze.
The idea was to still be able to see the text through the color.

This is the finished before the wash.

We washed it in a brown wash to make it look a little more vintage.
It came out dark but some of the wrinkles of the paper show through the brown which looks interesting. I think it will look good once the polyurethane is on it. It will bring out some of the colors.
I will take some photos once it is all completed and add it here.
