Living Walls Conference . The Event at Eyedrum

CTEcreative . Living Walls Conference

The Living Walls Conference brought 50+ local and international street artists together for the purpose of opening up dialogue about public spaces and street art.

In this country of consumers where advertisements are inescapable, the purpose of street art and the use of public space is so important.

I am really impressed by the selection of artists. Many were flown into Atlanta and given legal walls so they can make their mark. All the walls at Eyedrum are covered and many other walls around the city now have these artist’s work on them.

Names like RiPO, Swampy, The Paper Twins, Never, Michi, Doodles, Miso, Faber, Marco Sueño, Shaun Thurston, Greg Mike, Feral Child, Hugh Leeman, Jason Kofke, Pesimo, Jess Hinshaw…the list goes on and you can see the line up here.

The turnout was great and art was everywhere. It looked as if a bomb of wheat paste and spray paint had exploded in Eyedrum. Every available wall had something on it as you can see from the pictures. Very different from Eyedrum’s semi bare walls in a visually inspiring way.

This event taught me a lot about public spaces and how they are used/misused and how important those spaces are. I met some good people and some really talented artists.
Already looking forward to the next one.
